The Slave Trade
This section looks at the origins and development of the slave trade in European exploration and the early English trade as European nations colonised the 'New World'. It also examines the slave trade triangle with the movement of goods from Europe to Africa, the Middle Passage that saw millions of enslaved Africans being shipped across to America and the return voyage from the Americas to Europe laden with goods from the plantations.

Abolition
This section looks at the individuals and organisations involved in the campaign for abolition and the arguments used by the anti-abolitionists who wanted the trade to continue. It specifically looks at anti-Abolitionism in Liverpooland also considers the impact on trade with Africa after the abolition of the Slave Trade.

Impact on Liverpool
This section will include the impact of the slave trade on the city and port of Liverpool and the impact of abolition in 1807. It will also look at the legacy of the slave trade in the city's buildings, street names and its communities.
